Molstead Library builds its library instruction principles on the Association of College and Research Libraries' Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. The Framework identifies six foundational concepts of information literacy:
Faculty Librarians work closely with classroom faculty to design and deliver information literacy instruction (IL) with the goal of developing students into competent beginning researchers. Librarians address identified student learning outcomes for each subject or assignment through the careful selection of instructional content and pedagogy. Instruction is routinely assessed through the collection of feedback from students, classroom faculty, and peers with the goal of continuous improvement. Instruction may be delivered in either the library's or faculty member's classroom.
