Group Study Rooms

Group Study Rooms

Overview

group study spacke in molstead libraryGroup study spaces are limited and made available to support student learning. Currently only registered students at North Idaho College are eligible to book a room for study related purposes. These are your rooms, please treat them with care. No food or open drink containers allowed. Groups wishing to use a white board should only use the library-approved markers that are made available at the Check-Out Desk.

Because the rooms are very popular your reservation request will be held for 15 minutes only. If a reservation needs to be canceled, follow the link in the confirmation email or notify the Circulation Department (769-3355) as soon as possible. Alternative spaces on campus to consider include the DeArmond Building which can be booked using a kiosk in the lobby of that building.

Dry erase markers are available at the Check-Out Desk. See our Group Study Room page for details and booking. Individuals are welcome to use the space while a room is unoccupied but will be asked to relocate if/when the room is needed.

Food & Beverage

Beverages with secure lids and small snacks are allowed in the library and study spaces but meals should be consumed in the lobby of the building. The second floor of the building houses vending machines that will accept change, bills, or debit/credit cards. There is also a change machine located to the right of the first set of machines.

Speech Lab

Group study rooms 123 & 124 can also be used in conjunction with electronic equipment for Speech Lab (COMM). Speech Lab equipment (Library Use Only) is available at the library Check-Out Desk. At the bottom of this page is an instructional video created by the COMM department that demonstrates how to set-up the Speech Lab equipment in the library.

Use Restrictions

Group study rooms (123 & 124) are available to enrolled students attending North Idaho College, University of Idaho, or Lewis-Clark State College who need study space for 2 to 10 individuals.

The library is not responsible for any lost, stolen or unattended items and rooms are for student use only. These rooms cannot be used for the following purposes:

  • Single use (unless the room is unoccupied - check at Circulation Desk).
  • Counseling, tutoring, or sales sessions.
  • Community meetings or other community activities. Please contact Conferencing & Events to book spaces for this purpose.
  • Watching television or viewing films (unless as a group of students viewing required materials).

Room Guidelines

Our two group study rooms are for the max use of 2 to 10 students at any given time and the Research Room is a max of 2. Individual students may use a study room if unoccupied but will be asked to leave if the room is needed.

  • Students must reserve study room 123, 124, or the Research Room with the Check-Out Desk attendant.
  • You may reserve rooms for a single booking up to one month in advance.
  • Recurring bookings lasting longer than two consecutive days cannot be accommodated due to heavy use of the study rooms. We encourage you to stop by the morning of need to check availability.
  • Rooms are booked on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Study rooms may be booked for two hours at a time. An extension may be permitted, based on availability, and must be granted by a library worker.

Once you have made a successful reservation, you will receive a confirmation email. Should you need to cancel your reservation, please use the included link to do so as soon as possible to release the room to other students.
